Tension prevailed in the Padmapukur CIT Road area of Entally on Saturday after police stopped a procession organised by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), stating that the required administrative permission had not been obtained. Police prevented the procession from moving forward and deployed a large contingent of Kolkata Police and Central Armed Police Force personnel to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.
Strict security arrangements were put in place on the approach roads leading to Padmapukur CIT Road, where TMC workers were stopped by police. The administration stated that permission for the procession had been denied due to security concerns and traffic management considerations, leading to the action taken against the march.
